Bildung is a theatrical research project exploring how knowledge is transmitted and how, through learning, we become ourselves. “Becoming oneself” is not only an intimate and individual process but also the collective act of humanity’s self-formation. “Becoming oneself” is the effort to understand ourselves and, at the same time, to pass on our legacy—a striving for knowledge that is simultaneously a striving for an impossibility: to become immortal.
The Bildung project, in its entirety, is a long and continuous learning process for the performers. The performance is a fragment of this process: a snapshot of the step currently reached on the infinite staircase toward perfection. Each performance marks a higher point on the staircase, yet at the same time a regression into the past: a descent through generations, toward what makes us human, toward the discovery of fire.

Bildung è una ricerca teatrale su come si trasmette il sapere e su come, imparando, diventiamo noi stessi.
“Divenire se stessi” non è solamente un processo intimo e individuale, ma è anche l’atto collettivo di autoformazione dell’umanità.
“Divenire se stessi” è lo sforzo di comprendersi e, insieme, di tramandare la propria eredità. Una tensione verso la conoscenza che è al contempo tensione verso un’impossibilità: diventare immortali.
Il progetto Bildung è, nella sua interezza, un lungo e continuo processo di apprendimento dei performer.
Lo spettacolo ne è una scheggia: una fotografia dello scalino presente nell’infinita scala verso la perfezione.
Ogni replica è un punto più alto della scala, ma, allo stesso tempo, una regressione verso il passato:
una discesa attraverso le generazioni, verso ciò che ci rende umani, verso la scoperta del fuoco.
