This is a mechanism of textual distortion for a theatre of forgetting, for a theatrical hauntology. I recorded my father’s memories, transcribed them, and dictated them to my computer, which in turn transcribed them; I reread them, dictated them again to the computer, which once more transcribed them, and so on. The process dislocates the text in the same way my father’s memory is dislocated by dementia.
The time is out of joint.
We live in a present that cannot be remembered, haunted by a past that cannot be forgotten. It is a slow disintegration toward silence. There are no plot twists; perhaps there is no drama at all.
It is only a long sunset.

Questo è un meccanismo di distorsione testuale per un teatro della dimenticanza, per una hauntology teatrale. Ho registrato i ricordi di mio padre, li ho trascritti e li ho dettati al mio computer che li ha a sua volta trascritti; li ho riletti, ridettati al computer che li ha nuovamente trascritti, e così via. Il processo sloga il testo come la memoria di mio padre è slogata dalla demenza.

Viviamo un presente che non si può ricordare, infestato da un passato che non si può dimenticare. È una lenta disintegrazione verso il silenzio. Non ci sono colpi di scena, non c’è forse nessun dramma
